Joséphine de Weck was born in Fribourg, Switzerland and works in theatre as a project leader, actor and writer. She graduated in Drama from INSAS - Institut Supérieur des Arts - in Brussels in 2013, and followed this with a Masters in Scenic Art Practice in Berne. During this period she founded her company Opus 89 Collectif, with whom she creates at least one theatre work or installation per year. These have included ‘Do you listen to the driver’ (2015), an audio installation on a train that has been presented in Poland, Bulgaria and Switzerland, and ‘La Ballade du Mouton Noir’ (2016), a collective theatre piece on the question of identity and the dangers of the extreme right in Switzerland. In 2018 she will continue her research between reality and fiction. With a collective piece on Racine’s ‘Phaedra’ she plans to examine what culture means and why this masterpiece is perceived as part of our cultural heritage. She is also currently writing ‘AUTO FICTION’, a work of fiction based on her experiences as a hostess in a car showroom in Geneva.
