Andi Haberl

It was 2007 at the latest when Andi Haberl, the regular percussionist with indie rock precursors The Notwist, came to the attention of a wider range of fans and critics for his characteristic style of play. The year before the Berlin-based musician had been at the right place in the right time when Daniel Glatzel founded the Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra. As an agile rhythmic backbone for these and numerous other formations, he shuttles between sensitively melodious and explosively vertiginous passages. His musically-literate and flexible style of play has also led him to collaborate with artists such as Bobby Hutcherson, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Michael Wollny, Wanja Slavin, Pablo Held, Johannes Enders, Nils Landgren, Dave Douglas, Till Brönner, My Brightest Diamond, Owen Pallett and Lali Puna.
