Kathrin Denner

Kathrin Denner first studied trumpet and music theory, then composition with Theo Brandmüller at the Hochschule für Musik Saar / Saarbrücken, with Wolfgang Rihm at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe and in the master class with Johannes Schoellhorn at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg.

She is a prize-winner of numerous competitions, including the German Music Competition (2013). In 2018, she was awarded the German Music Authors' Prize of the GEMA, received a first prize at the Chamber Music Competition of the Weimarer Frühjahrstage für zeitgenössische Musik and a highly endowed cultural scholarship from the city of Karlsruhe. For a long time, she was sponsored by the Oskar and Vera Ritter Foundation, and she also received the State Graduate Scholarship of the State of Baden-Württemberg. She supports the interests of fellow composers as a member of the board and in the management team of the music section of the German Composers' Association and as a delegate of the affiliated and extraordinary members of GEMA.

Her works have been performed by the Deutsche Radiophilharmonie Saarbrücken / Kaiserslautern, the Badische Staatskapelle Karlsruhe, the Ballett Pforzheim, the Ensemble Lux:NM, the International Ensemble Modern Academy, Eduard Brunner, Reinhold Friedrich, Bruno Mantovani and Mayumi Miyata, among others. Her catalogue of works includes solo works, chamber music, ensemble pieces, works for orchestra and computer music.
