Silke Lange

Silke Lange is an accordionist and synthesizer player. She studied accordion at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin. She is interested in contemporary music and cross-genre projects. She works closely with composers – and has initiated numerous world premieres. Lange is a co-founder of the ensemble for contemporary music LUX:NM. For their debut album “LUXUS”, the ensemble was nominated for the critic’s choice list of the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik (German Record Critics’ Award). Since 2018, she has been playing in the trio for electroacoustic live music Lange//Berweck//Lorenz. In addition to contemporary music, Lange works also in the fields of improvised music and sound art. She has performed at renowned festivals worldwide, including Ultraschall Berlin, MaerzMusik, Donaueschinger Musiktage, Eclat Festival, Warsaw Autumn, Festival de Música Contemporánea and Edmonton New Music. CD recordings are available on Wergo, DUX, god records and genuin classics, and numerous radio recordings document her concert activities. With the ensemble LUX:NM, she performed the solo part in the world premiere of Gordon Kampe’s “Masque” for ensemble and orchestra with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin under the direction of Brad Lubman in 2020. She also works as a musician and performer in theatre productions, among others at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Berliner Festspiele, with the theatre groups club real and Schauplatz International, at the Hamburg State Opera, the Staatstheater Mainz, the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Tehran Independent Theater.
