Performer, dramaturg, DJ – Hanover, Germany
Participant International Forum 2023
Tubi Malcharzik (no pronouns, they/them) lives in Hanover and Vienna and works as a performer, dramaturg and DJ. Based on autobiographical experiences, Tubi’s work deals with queer memory, abstract drag, German-Polish migration history and seemingly impossible duets – both in solo performances (“COMEBACK”, “PASKUDNIK”) and collective projects (“Funken bis Uranus”, “Sprachnachrichten über Schlonsken”). Their performances have been shown at and invited to Schwankhalle (Bremen), Hebbel am Ufer (Berlin), brut (Vienna) Multitude Festival (Hanover) and Körber Studio Junge Regie (Hamburg).
Aside from their work as an artist, Tubi has been a member of the Initiative for Solidarity in Theatre which carries out a power-critical analysis of structures in the field of theatre. Tubi also founded the DJ-collective soft spot with friends, aiming to create spaces for experimental electronic sounds in Hanover and looking for queer-feminist politics on and off the dance floor. Apart from their local work, the group focusses on exchange with other queer-feminist collectives, most recently with Lokalni Poznańscy Voguerzy (Poznań). As aua&angst, Tubi has played DJ-sets at venues including the Hyperreality Festival for Club Culture (Vienna), the Fuchsbau Festival (Hanover) and dyke*night (Witten).
