David Bösch

David Bösch was born in 1978 in Lübbecke. After his studies at the Zurich University of the Arts, he was appointed in-house director of the Schauspiel Essen for 2005/06. He became the chief director of Bochum theatre in 2010/11, and of the Burgtheater Wien in 2013/14, where he staged “Parsifal” by Tankred Dorst in 2014.

The theatres where David Bösch has worked include the Residenztheater München, the Thalia Theater Hamburg, the Schauspielhaus Zürich and the Myeongdong Theatre in Seoul. Over the past few years, he has also increasingly worked in opera.

In the future, he will present “Alcina” at the Grand Théâtre Geneva,“Elektra” at the Aalto Theater Essen, “Idomeneo” at the Vlaamse Opera Antwerp/Ghent, “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, “Il trovatore” at the ROH in London’s Covent Garden, and “Figaro” at the Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam, among others.
