Austrian-born violinist Johanna Pichlmair became a pupil of Alexandra Rappitsch at the age of six, who taught her and had a decisive influence on her until she began her music studies. She completed her first year of studies at the Mozarteum Salzburg with Igor Ozim. In 2009 she moved to Berlin, where she first studied at the Hanns Eisler Musikhochschule with Antje Weithaas and Feng Ning, and later at the Universität der Künste with Nora Chastain. From 2014 to 2016 she was a scholarship holder at the Karajan Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker. She also attended master classes with Pinchas Zukerman, Lewis Kaplan and Eberhard Feltz, among others. She received her first position with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks in 2017. Since March 2020 she has been part of the first violin section of the Berliner Philharmoniker. As a soloist, Johanna Pichlmair has performed, for example, with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, Münchner Rundfunkorchester and Nürnberger Symphoniker.
