Helena Rasker

Dutch contralto Helena Rasker’s distinguished career has led to collaborations with conductors, orchestras and opera houses of the highest calibre.

Helena will begin her 2021/22 season recording Bach’s B Minor Mass with René Jacobs and the RIAS Kammerchor Berlin; she will also appear with Maestro Jacobs on tour with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra in Caldara’s “Maddalena ai piedo di Christo” in Berlin, Freiburg, Paris, Madrid and Moscow. She will make her debut at the Opéra National de Rhin as the Grandmother, the Old Lady and the Finn Woman in “The Snowqueen” by Abrahamsen and will reprise these roles in a concert performance at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam with Kent Nagano; she will appear with Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt, Berlin and Cologne, and she will make her debut with the London Sinfonietta at the Southbank Centre. Helena Rasker will create the central role in the World Premiere of “Like Flesh” by Sivan Eldar at Opéra de Lille, and this production will be seen at Opéra de Montpelier, Opéra National de Lorraine and the Vlaamse Oper.

Her recent appearances include her return to the Festival d’Aix en Provence in the World Premiere of “The Arab Apocalypse” directed by Pierre Audi, her debut at the Théâtre de Champs-Élysées Paris and the Grand Théâtre de Genève in Robert Wilson’s new staging of “The Messiah” and she returned to the Concertgebouw Amsterdam for the role of Starenka Buryjovka in “Jenůfa” with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra.
