Alexander Arai-Swale

Alexander Arai-Swale was born in New Zealand in 1994 and received his first cello lessons at the age of six. After completing his bachelor's degree in 2016, he began studying double bass in Melbourne at the Australian National Academy of Music. In his home country he was the winner of numerous competitions and performed several times with orchestras such as the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. In April 2018, Alexander Arai-Swale moved to Berlin to continue his studies with Prof. Matthew McDonald. He has been a scholarship holder of the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic since September 2019.
