Susanne Chrudina was born in 1972. She has been working as a director and author since 2002 and has created work for Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, Deutsches Theater Berlin, Staatstheater Hannover, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Theater Magdeburg and Theater Letí in Prague. Her numerous, partly international, directing work includes productions featuring young Romani people from Transylvania or youngsters from Berlin-Marzahn. In her piece “Mädchenorchester”, for example, young performers and a youth orchestra recount the memories of the women’s orchestra in Auschwitz.
From 2016 to 2018, she was programme director for the Performing Arts Festival Berlin. In the field of cultural education, Susanne Chrudina develops events for experts and professionals and gives workshops for young people, teachers and theatre education experts.
Since February 2021, Susanne Chrudina has been in charge of the Treffen junge Szene, four annual national contests of Berliner Festspiele (Theatertreffen der Jugend, Tanztreffen der Jugend, Treffen junger Autor*innen, Treffen junge Musikszene), funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
