Scottish mezzo soprano Catriona Morison joined the ensemble of Oper Wuppertal in 2016/17. Her repertoire there has included Nicklausse in “Les contes d’Hoffmann”, Clarice in “The Love for Three Oranges” by Sergei Prokofiev, and Maddalena in Verdi’s “Rigoletto”. Further engagements include Annina in “Der Rosenkavalier” and Kay in “Die Schneekönigin” (Albrecht) at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, Pisandro in Claudio Monteverdi’s “Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria” for Theater Erfurt, and staged productions of Mozart’s Requiem for Theater Hof and Handel’s “Alexander’s Feast” for the Lithuanian National Opera. Furthermore, she has sung in concert with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, at the BBC Proms Plus Portrait Series, and at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival with Anima Eterna Brugge.
Catriona Morison represents Scotland at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition 2017. Winner of the Toonkunst Oratorio Prize at the 50th IVC ‘s-Hertogenbosch, she was also a finalist at the 9th International Hilde Zadek Voice Competition. She studied in Berlin at the University of the Arts and at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, graduating with Distinction. Catriona Morison is a Samling Artist and was a member of the Thüringer Opernstudio and the Salzburg Festival’s Young Singers Project.
