Hardi Kurda

Kurdish-Swedish composer and violinist Hardi Kurda began his training at Gothenburg University, where he also lives today. He studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Leipzig with Claus-Steffen Mahnkopf and at the Gotland Composer House on Gotland (Sweden) with Per Mårtensson and Henrik Strindberg. Hardi Kurda writes ensemble music, works for string orchestra, electronic music and vocal works. In addition, he has realised audio-visual works. His compositions often involve suggestive sound surfaces and distinctive gestures. Hardi Kurda actively fosters Swedish-Kurdish cultural exchange programmes, running workshops and concerts in Sulaimani (Iraq) and Sweden.
