Anja Plaschg, also known as the artist Soap & Skin, is an Austrian musician, singer, composer and actor. Following her first concert appearances, Plaschg was immediately hailed as a “wunderkind.” In 2008 she played the German singer Nico in Werner Fritsch’s theatre play “Nico – Sphinx of Ice”. When Soap & Skin’s first complete album, entitled “Lovetune for Vacuum”, was released in 2009 music critics and the media were quick to see her as the great hope for Austrian pop music. In 2011 Plaschg acted in her first film, “Still Life”, director Sebastian Meise’s debut feature, and also created the sound for the exhibition “Made to Measure” by fashion designer Petar Petrov at the Kunsthalle in Vienna. With her 2011 album “Narrow” she also reached number 1 in the Austrian album charts for the first time. October 2016 saw the release of the film “The Dreamed Ones” by Ruth Beckermann, in which she plays one of the two leading roles alongside Laurence Rupp. The release of “From Gas to Solid / you are my friend” in 2018 marked the first Soap & Skin album to appear for six years.
