Maryna Mikhalchuk

Born in Belarus, Maryna Mikhalchuk studied Theatre at the LMU Munich. She not only made her directorial debut there, but was also active as an actor and dramaturg before she began to gain experience in the independent theatre scene. In 2022, Maryna Mikhalchuk staged a play at the Stuttgart Schauspiel about the politicisation of Belarusian society based on letters from political prisoners: “18 Letters and a Fable from Belarus”. These letters are recited by women who have fled Ukraine. Her last production “The Boar Festival”, with the artists of the Kupalauski Theater in exile, deals with the absurdity of the political system in Belarus.
