Mathias Becker

Mathias Becker was born in Magdeburg. After a degree in Theatre and Media Studies from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, he studied Contemporary Puppetry at Hochschule für Schauspielkunst “Ernst Busch” in Berlin. In 2014, he founded the collective MANUFAKTOR (www.manufaktor.eu) together with three fellow students. Since then, he has been working in a wide range of constellations as a free-lance puppeteer, director, actor and author. In 2015, he was Artist in Residence at the Goethe-Institute in Beijing, China, where he staged Heiner Müller’s “Traktor” together with the shadow theatre group Han Fei Zi Drama Club. He can be seen as a performer in MANUFAKTOR’s production “Pinocchio 2.0” and in the production “Mit Dolores habt ihr nicht gerechnet”, directed by Tucké Royale. In the 2017/18 season, he rewrote the comic “Der Affe von Hartlepool” and staged the play at Junges Nationaltheater Mannheim.
