Thanupon Yindee is a director, actor and dancer from Thailand. He has worked with the Makhampom Theatre Group since he was a high school student. From 2010 to 2012, he and his team devised community theatre productions and performed in surrounding communities to raise awareness of children’s rights in Thai society. In 2012 Thanupon Yindee co-directed a physical theatre production to address stateless and ethnic minority rights in Northern Thailand. In 2013, he used his experiences of six months’ military conscription to create a contemporary dance performance dealing with violence in Thai military training. In 2014, he performed and produced a contemporary circus and theatre performance which was a collaborative project with German circus artists. From 2015 to 2017, he directed circus-theatre productions for children with young performers from ethnic minorities that were performed in villages in the Chiang Mai province. In 2017, he directed a contemporary theatre production aimed to raise concern in Thai society about freedom and democracy in the face of the military coup. From 2016 to 2018, he was part of a team that created dialogue theatre, stimulating the audience to lead a dialogue with characters on the stage on sensitive social dilemmas.
