DARUM

DARUM (Victoria Halper & Kai Krösche) create performances, installations and films as well as sound-, video- and media art. By deliberately blurring the boundaries between facts and fiction, DARUM develop works that try to steer our society’s focus towards the unreconciled and contradictory, and the exceptional states and phenomena that often occur with them. DARUM’s first piece in Vienna, “Ungebetene Gäste” (2019) was nominated in the category of Special Award of the Viennese NESTROY Theatre Prize and invited to the 2020 Impulse Theatre Festival. The performative installation “Ausgang: Offen” (2020), which had to be adapted into a film due to the COVID-pandemic, was nominated for the NESTROY-Corona-Award. DARUM’s third performance production in Vienna, “Heimweh” (2022), received the NESTROY Special Award in 2023. In 2025, DARUM received the first invitation to the Berlin Theatertreffen with the performative installation  “[EOL]. End of Life” (2024). DARUM’s film and media art projects have been presented in Germany (hof international film festival, die digitale düsseldorf), Austria (Diagonale Festival of Austrian Film) and the US (Seattle International Film Festival, Brooklyn Film Festival).
