ADUKE Aladekomo is a Nigerian-British, born to a dentist father and lawyer mother in Osogbo. She is a multi-disciplinary performing artist, song writer, multi-instrumentalist, art education enthusiast and creative entrepreneur who uses music, dance, poetry and drama as means of expression. She has a background in dance theatre from having worked with Segun Adefila’s renowned Crown Troupe of Africa for eight years, featuring in several socio-political productions. ADUKE plays world music, afrosoul, folk, afrobeat, afrojazz, using her primary language, Yoruba, English and Pidgin to convey her message. She is an advocate for the use of art for social and political reforms and makes conscious music that talks about relevant issues. She was part of a tandem art residency project between Brazil, Nigeria, Germany and Pakistan organised by the Goethe-Institut, researching a project called “how free are the arts”. Even though ADUKE Aladekomo’s bias and love tilts towards performing, she released several songs to her credit and her debut album was released in February 2020. She is an emerging, distinct and powerful voice out of Africa.
