Isaiah Newby (they/them, he/his) is a performing artist driven by movement and its possibilities. As a dance artist, actor and collaborator, they have built a diverse career spanning ballet companies, recording artists, contemporary dance, opera and modeling. Their credits include The Met Opera, the Limón Dance Company, Sterling King, Dance Lab New York and live performances for artists Allison Clancy and Jayse Vegas.
Newby studied at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts under the direction of Sean Curran, following their training in the ballet program at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts under Susan Jaffe. He has performed works by Aszure Barton, Susan Jaffe, Ronald K. Brown, Dwight Rhoden, Stephen Petronio, Chuck Wilt and Gregory Dolbashian. Newby also assists and works as a choreographer, focusing on creating works that bring meaning, beauty and inspiration into a concrete world.
