William Thomas

A recent graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, English bass William Thomas has a promising career ahead of him. He has won a number of prizes and awards, is currently a member of the Opera Studio Programme for young singers at London's English National Opera and is being specifically promoted as a BBC New Generation Artist. William Thomas has already appeared on the stage of the Vienna State Opera in smaller, so-called Comprimario roles and has taken part several times in the famous opera festival in Glyndebourne in the south of England. There he appeared as Nicholas in the British premiere of Samuel Barber's opera Vanessa, which was subsequently released as a video recording. As a concert singer, he has appeared with renowned conductors such as François-Xavier Roth and Alan Gilbert, and last season was chosen by John Eliot Gardiner to sing Jesus in Johann Sebastian Bach's St John Passion for an extensive European tour. He is due to make his debut at La Scala in Milan in autumn 2023 in a production of Benjamin Britten's opera Peter Grimes.
