Dramatist, novelist and dramaturge John von Düffel was invited to the Stückemarkt in 1996 with the play “Die Unbekannte mit dem Fön” and in 2002 with “Elite I.1”. After studying philosophy, German language and literature, and economics, he did his doctorate degree in 1989 with a thesis on epistemology. He has worked at theatres in Stendal, Oldenburg, Basel, Bonn and Hamburg and is currently a dramaturge at the Deutsches Theater Berlin. Aside from this, he directs the Creative Writing for the Stage study programme at the Berlin University of the Arts and has held several guest professorships. He has won the Ernst Willner Prize, the Mara Cassens Prize and the Nicolas Born Award. From 2004-2011, he led the dramatists’ workshop at the Stückemarkt.
