Nurkan Erpulat

Nurkan Erpulat was born in Ankara in 1974 and has lived in Berlin since 1999. He studied theatre at the Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir and directing at the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch in Berlin. He works mainly in Berlin, but also in Hanover, Linz, Heilbronn and Istanbul. His theatre works include “Faked” (2007), “Beyond – Are you gay or are you Turkish?” (2008), “You don’t need a guidebook to a village you can see” (2009, both part of “beyond belonging” at the HAU), “Shadow voices” (2008) and “Lö Bal Almanya” (2010, both at Ballhaus Naunynstraße). His productions “Home in your Head” (2008) and “Family Stories” (2009), which he created with young people at Staatstheater Hannover were both invited to the Berliner Festspiele’s Theatertreffen der Jugend. His latest production “Mad Blood” (September 2010), a co-production between Ballhaus Naunynstraße and the Ruhrtriennale, has been nominated for the Friedrich Luft Prize. Nurkan Erpulat teaches at the University of the Arts Berlin.
