Jan Schlichte

Jan Schlichte studied percussion at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main and later at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Trossingen. He gained extensive orchestral experience in the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and the Südwestfunk radio orchestra. He received a scholarship from the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and became an official member of the top Berlin orchestra in 1998. He is particularly committed to contemporary chamber music for piano and percussion.

Jan Schlichte is also one of the founding members of the ensemble Nukleus and performs in many different ensembles, including the KNM Berlin ensemble and the Scharoun Ensemble. He regularly gives concerts with the GrauSchumacher Piano Duo and has already released several CD recordings with the piano duo. Jan Schlichte has been teaching at the Karajan Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker since 2016 and is a lecturer with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie. He also regularly gives masterclasses in Trossingen, Hanover and Dresden.
