Rana Issa is Assistant Professor of Translation Studies at the American University of Beirut. Her research interests include 19th century Arabic literature, translation studies, philology and the Bible. She is co-editing with Einar Wigen “Levantine Chronotopes”(forthcoming) and editing a book on the translation of the Bible in the nineteenth century that will come out in a few months. She has contributed articles on Ahmad Faris Shidyaq, the concept of Jihad in Palestinian nahda poetry, and on transformations to the Arabic lexicon in the 19th century.
