
Stefan Pucher was born in Gießen in 1965. He studied theatre and American studies in Frankfurt. He developed various performance projects at TAT Frankfurt and for the British company Gob Squad, among others. Pucher directed performances at Theater Basel, Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Volksbühne Berlin, Münchner Kammerspiele and Schauspielhaus Zürich, where he was resident director from 2000 to 2004. His productions of Chekhov’s “Drei Schwestern” (Three Sisters), Shakespeare’s „Richard III.” and Max Frisch’s “Homo Faber”, created during his time in Zurich, were invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen, as was William Shakespeare’s “Der Sturm” (The Tempest), which he created at Münchner Kammerspiele (2008). At Schauspielhaus Zürich, Pucher most recently directed Georg Büchner’s “Woyzeck”.
