Kay Voges has been the artistic director of Schauspiel Dortmund since 2010. He has worked as a director for both drama and opera since 1998, at Schauspiel Dortmund, Staatsoper Hannover, Oper Dortmund, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Staatsschauspiel Dresden, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Staatstheater Kassel, Theater Magdeburg, Theater Bonn and the theatres of Münster and Moers. From 1996 to 2003, he worked at Theater Oberhausen and was a member of the artistic directors’ team for the last four years of this period. Kay Voges teaches at Fachhochschule Dortmund and other institutions. His productions have received various awards: “Einige Nachrichten an das All” won the award for “Best production” at the NRW-Theatertreffen 2013, a film about this production received awards at the ArtoDocs International Film Festival in St. Petersburg and at the Sunset Film Festival Los Angeles. His production of “Das Fest” was nominated for the German theatre award DER FAUST in 2013 in the category “Best Drama”, and “DAS GOLDENE ZEITALTER” was presented at Heidelberger Stückemarkt. In 2003, Kay Voges won the North Rhine-Westphalian award for emerging director, winning the “Prize for outstanding artistic achievement” three times as well as the audience award at the NRW-Theatertreffen for children’s and young people’s theatre.
