Dramatist Werner Buhss was invited to the Stückemarkt in 1991 with the play “Friedrich Grimm. Ein Weg”. His plays include “Bevor wir Greise wurden”, “Deutsche Küche” and “Das siebte Siegel”. He was an assistant director and a trainee at the DEFA film studios. In 1969, he graduated with a degree in film directing from the Babelsberg Film School. Directorial work followed in Eisleben, Rudolstadt, Brandenburg, Karl-Marx-Stadt and Bulgaria. Since 1981, Werner Buhss has worked as a freelance playwright and has published various adaptations and translations of classics by Shakespeare, Goldoni and Chekhov besides his own plays and those of his contemporaries such as Hristo Boytchev and the Presnyakov brothers. In 1996, he received the Mülheim Dramatists’ Prize. The world premiere of his new play “Wolfswelt. Die Stunde der Kammerjäger” will take place in spring 2012 at the Neues Theater Halle.
