“12 / … im linken Rückspiegel auf dem Parkplatz von Woolworth is a staged concert about media in times of war. It is a radical propaganda piece, a pop requiem that intertwines news, pop songs, jingles and advertising slogans. An entertainment industry is unmasked that generates bad news as part of its entertainment program. However, instead of shaking an incensed finger of political correctness, VA Wölfl reverses the media’s method. While the entertainment industry inundates us with speed, dynamism and punch lines, Wölfl places his trust in a precise calculation of slowness, repetitions and inertia. In his choreography these coalesce into a monstrous coldness and brutality that is revealed as the other side of the media’s cruelty.”
