For “Reflexes & Reflections. 7 October, the war in Gaza and the Debate in Germany", photographer Ali Ghandtschi has created an exhibition entitled ‘Overlaps’. The pictures were taken during several journeys to Israel (2011–2014), during which Ali Ghandtschi talked to many people and asked them about their personal stories. The book “My Israel” (Suhrkamp, 2015) was created from their stories.

The photographs do not show these people, but mostly walls that carry symbolic traces. They bear witness to a torn society in which different interpretations struggle with each other.
Ali Ghandtschi was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1969. He lives and works as a freelance photographer in Berlin.

The exhibition is part of the “Reflexes & Reflections Library” in the Upper Foyer of the Haus der Berliner Festspiele, which offers in-depth reading and films on the topic and provides space for discussions outside of the curated panel discussions.
The exhibition and library can be visited before and after an event for which you have a ticket.
