A play by Pina Bausch
Rough Cut © Ursula Kaufmann
Rough Cut was inspired when the Tanztheater Wuppertal spent several weeks in Seoul. It is a creation at the interface of Asia and Europe, between Asian contemplation and the miraculous images of the high-tech world of the South Korean capital. Entrancing solos, followed by passionate duets – the game of seduction between men and women as erotic miniatures and snapshots. And images that awake a sense of longing: mountain panoramas as untouched fictions, where Alpine climbers calmly ascend a magnificent glacier that towers over the stage as a projected surface; burning silk flowers and images of dance with serene and breathtaking beauty. Pina Bausch’s miraculous dance theatre with her fantastic dancers is returning to Berlin, to close the spielzeiteuropa season with a poetical evening of theatre that is both rich in imagery and replete with strong emotions.
