This German-Cameroonian OPER(ATION) on the memory of slavery tracks the aesthetic representation, contextualisation and deconstruction of Cameroon’s colonial heritage. Laments and dirges, workers’ and resistance songs and European opera are woven into a polyphonic soundscape between reality and fiction: A journey of research into the rise and glamour of the colonialists and the misery and trauma of the colonised.
