The Theatertreffen shows a production from the Berliner Festspiele’s new series Circus

In “All Genius All Idiot”, Svalbard Company perform an equally eccentric and outrageous frenzied game on the absurdities of life. Breaking down the limits of contemporary circus, these four graduates of Stockholm’s Circus University create an energetic, surreal play from elements of theatre, slapstick, live music and acrobatics – including the Chinese pole, the vertical rope, handstands and dance. The show is driven by an original soundtrack that is impossible to resist.

“It looks”, said Adrian Berry, artistic director of the Jacksons Lane Theatre in London, “as if it had been directed by Jim Jarmusch”.

The four performers, all of them exceptional talents, are united by the search for answers to the big questions of art and of our time. In “All Genius All Idiot”, they are trying to give these answers without taking themselves too seriously.
