The 3sat-Award for an artistically innovative achievement is awarded as part of Theatertreffen. This year, it goes to director Anita Vulesica for her production “Die Maschine oder: Über allen Gipfeln ist Ruh” at Deutsches SchauSpielHaus Hamburg.

The award ceremony will take place with a live audience following the performance of “Die Maschine oder: Über allen Gipfeln ist Ruh” at Haus der Berliner Festspiele.

Since 1997, 3sat has bestowed the 3sat-Award for an artistically innovative achievement to one or more artists from the circle of the invited ensembles. In 2025, director Anita Vulesica will receive the award for her production “Die Maschine oder: Über allen Gipfeln ist Ruh”. The jury says:

“’Wandrers Nachtlied (Wanderer’s Nightsong)’: French author Georges Perec (1936 – 1982) took this poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe as the foundation of his 1968 audio play ‘Die Maschine’. Here, it is circuits who communicate rather than people, and an authority called ‘Control’ dismantles the text into its individual components. Director Anita Vulesica proves that this audio play is also an eminently interesting text for the theatre stage. She follows the author’s attempt to systematise the world, while also showing that the fragility of words holds an allure that defies all definition. She creates a show of dancing syllables, about language as material, but also about power and resistance, and silence as a political force. Funny, serious, trashy and, time and again, pausing in all the treetops.”

The 2025 jury consists of Nora Hertlein-Hull (director of Theatertreffen), Wolfgang Horn (editor of the ZDF-department of music and theatre) and Katrin Ullmann (theatre critic and member of the Theatertreffen-jury). The 3sat-award comes with a prize money of 10,000 Euros.
