Luise Voigt

Luise Voigt was born in Nordhausen in Thuringia and studied applied theatre studies in Gießen. She has been working as a freelance director, initially in the independent theatre and performance scene, where her works have been presented at venues including Kaserne Basel, Sophiensӕle in Berlin and Kampnagel Internationale Kulturfabrik. Since 2015, Luise Voigt has created productions at various German municipal and state theatres including Oldenburgisches Staatstheater, Theater Bonn, Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, Deutsches Nationaltheater und Staatskapelle Weimar, and Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. Apart from her work as a director, Luise Voigt is also an author, media artist and audio-play maker. She has received several awards for her audio-plays: In 2020, she received the German Audio-Play Award in the category of Best Audio-Book for “Die Jahre” by Annie Ernaux. In 2009, Luise Voigt received a scholarship of the Berlin Academy of the Arts in the section of media arts. In 2016, her devised play “Krieg der Welten” was invited to Heidelberger Stückemarkt and in the same year, she was nominated as Best Emerging Playwright of the Year by the magazine Theater heute. In 2023, her production “Der Meister und Margarita” was nominated for the German Theatre Prize DER FAUST. In 2025, her production “Die Gewehre der Frau Carrar / Würgendes Blei” was invited to Theatertreffen in Berlin.
