
Aliénor Dauchez is La Cage’s artistic director, visual artist and director. After an engineering degree at the UTC Compiègne school, she studied graphic arts at the Berlin University of the Arts under Gregor Schneider’s supervision and at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, where she attended Giuseppe Penone’s workshops. She has assisted Anna Viebrock, Sasha Waltz and Heiner Goebbels. In 2013, she received the Akademie Musiktheather heute scholarship from the Foundation Deutsche Bank; she was then resident of the Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart in 2017.
With La Cage, she develops performative art works in which she combines musical and sculptural elements. Her productions have been performed at the Radialsystem, Ballhaus Ost and Berghain in Berlin as well as at Theater Basel, the Centre Pompidou, the Cité de la Musique in Paris, the Rouen Opera, the Eclat Festival Neue Musik, the Herrenhausen Art Festival and the Donaueschingen Music Festival.
She has received awards from the Ulrich and Burga Knispel Foundation and the Master Student Award by the President of Berlin University of the Arts for her artistic work. In the form of sculptures, videos and performances, she explores the relationship between the body, objects and their boundaries. Her works have been shown at the Beach Office, the Haus am Lützowplatz in Berlin, the Kunstverein Hildesheim, the Neuer Kunstverein Gießen and the Biennale d'Art Contemporain in Moscow, among others.
Aliénor Dauchez was artiste associée at the French state theatre La Rose des Vents SN Lille Métropole – Villeneuve d'Ascq from 2019 to 2021 under the direction of Marie Didier and is currently part of the Campus artist programme at the state theatre Le Phénix SN Pôle européen de création de Valenciennes, directed by Romaric Daurier.
