Sebastian Schottke

Sebastian Schottke, born in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is an internationally sought-after sound director and tonmeister in the field of contemporary electroacoustic music. He has performed at the Ruhrtriennale, Festival d’Avignon, Auckland Arts Festival, Edinburgh International Festival, Santiago a Mil, ICOM Kyoto, Beethovenfest Bonn, Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival, Wien Modern, ECLAT, Achtbrücken and Ultraschall, among others. A close artistic collaboration connects him with Ensemble Resonanz, and also with Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Musikfabrik, Klangforum Wien, Lemi Ponifasio / MAU, Sir Simon Rattle, Ingo Metzmacher, Thomas Hengelbrock and many others. He works as a freelance tonmeister for the Center for Art and Media (ZKM) in Karlsruhe, where he produces concerts and recordings with composers and musicians, often with a focus on multi-channel spatial audio. He has also worked as a tonmeister on numerous studio productions released on bastille musique, Kairos, Mode Records, Naxos, Orlando, Tzadik and WERGO. Among others, Brigitta Muntendorf’s “Trilogy for Two Pianos” was awarded the “Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik” 2023. Schottke is a lecturer at the Karlsruhe University of Music in the subject “Interpretation and Performance Practice of (Live) Electronic Music and Computer Music” and has held seminars and workshops in Hong Kong and Athens.
