Guanghao Wang’s practice navigates reality and fiction, interrogating intersections between collective memory and personal narratives while examining media’s role in reshaping historical consciousness. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD at Nanjing University.
As a director, his works include “1 Yottabyte Leben” (Olivia Wenzel, 2020) blending internet interaction logics and power structures with theatre; “understanding media” (2021) dissecting human-media relations through fragmented archives; “happy ending” (2023), using a “model city” to explore urban nightlife; and “it’s time to get old!” (2024), integrating elderly football data into video games to reimagine ageing.
In 2020 he co-founded Bread Trap Group and initiated a series of research-based projects, which have been featured in numerous festivals.
