Meret Kündig was born in Bern. After studying piano at the Bern University of the Arts (HKB), she studied general and comparative literature and philosophy at the University of Zurich and the Free University of Berlin. She gained work experience as an intern and a trainee at Schauspiel Frankfurt, the Berlin State Opera and the Berliner Ensemble. In 2017, she went to the Halle Opera as a dramaturgy assistant and worked there with the directors Tatjana Gürbaca and Thirza Bruncken, among others. As a freelance dramaturg, Kündig staged productions with the choreographer Johnny Lloyd, Wolfgang Nägele and the schaefer||scherpinski collective, including "Zwischen den Seiten" (2016) at the Cologne Opera and "Der Kaiser von Atlantis" in Volgograd. She was part of the artistic direction at the international Kleist workshop [Un]sichtbare Grenzen in Belarus and the Kleist Festival in Frankfurt (Oder). In addition, she worked as a translator with Stefan Kaegi/Rimini Protokoll for "Granma" (2019) at Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin and was involved in various productions of Krystian Lada's music theatre collective The Airport Society in Antwerp. Since the 2020/21 season, she works at Theater Basel.
