Amitesh Grover is an Indian theatre director who blends contemporary theatre practices with socio-political themes. Grover is particularly celebrated for his use of technology, multimedia and physical theatre to create engaging and thought-provoking performances. His work often involves interdisciplinary methods, combining traditional and modern forms of theatre with a focus on the experience of the audience. He is known for breaking boundaries in terms of stage design, performance styles and content. He has directed over 30 theatre productions that have been presented at renowned festivals globally and was honoured with awards like the Bismillah Khan National Award and international residencies. His work is featured in books and described as “bold new theatre”.

Amitesh Grover, born in India in 1980, realises performances, public gaming events and intermedia installations. Since his studies at the University of Arts in London, he has been working at the interface between digital technologies, game design, interventions (partly) in public space and performance. His productions have been performed in Australia, the USA, Switzerland, England, Mexico, China, the Philippines, Romania, Pakistan, Oman and India. He has received numerous awards including the Arte Laguna Prize (Finalist Exhibition, Italy) and the National Award for Emerging Director (India). He has been invited to residencies in Australia, Switzerland and England. Amitesh Grover was a jury member at the Zürcher Theater Spektakel in 2008 and a guest lecturer at Cornell University, USA, in 2011. In addition to his artistic work, he is a junior professor at the National School of Drama in New Delhi.
