
Barbara Gronau is Professor of Theory and History of Theatre at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) and Coordinator of the DFG-Research Training Group “Knowledge in the Arts”. Her main areas of research and publication include the interfaces of visual arts and theatre (“Theaterinstallationen. Performative Räume bei Beuys, Boltanski, Kabavkov”, Munich 2010; “How to Frame. On the Threshold of Performance and Visual Arts”, Berlin/New York 2016), theories of agency and performance (“Performanzen des Nichttuns”, Vienna 2008; “Ökonomien der Zurückhaltung”, Bielefeld, 2010, both with Alice Lagaay) and epistemologies of the aesthetic (“Szenarien der Energie, Ästhetik und Wissenschaft des Immateriellen”, Bielefeld 2013). She has worked as a dramaturg on various theatre productions (Jelinek/Gaigg “Über Tiere” Zurich/Vienna 2007; SheShePop “Schubladen”, 2012) and curated international theatre festivals (Poker im Osten, HAU 2005; Palast der Projekte – Zum Verhältnis von Theater und Ökonomie, HAU 2008; Entropia – Szenarien der Energie, Radialsystem Berlin 2010).
