Les Cris de Paris, led by Geoffroy Jourdain, is an ensemble dedicated to the art of singing. They bring together singers and musicians with a dual background of soloists and ensemble musicians. Their artistic project is based on collaborations and interaction with artists from other fields (theatre, dance, live performance, the plastic arts, etc.) Les Cris de Paris are wide-ranging: wide-ranging backgrounds, wide-ranging repertoires and wide-ranging approaches. But all helping to provide cohesion to a distinctive artistic project.
They have performed at prestigious venues and festivals, and have developed partnerships abroad, both in Europe (Kölner Philharmonie, Radialsystem Berlin, Venice Biennale, Misteria Paschalia Festival in Kraków) and across the Atlantic (Cervantino de Guanajuato Festival, Sala Nezahualcóyotl in Mexico City).
Their critically acclaimed discography includes “Berio to Sing”, with Lucile Richardot (harmonia mundi, 2021), “Passions”, dedicated to Venetian Baroque, (harmonia mundi, 2019), “Melancholia”, a recital of avant-garde motets and madrigals from the late Renaissance (harmonia mundi, 2018), and “IT”, devoted to the contemporary Italian music scene (NoMadMusic, 2017). The ensemble's record, “David and Salomon”, is a work devoted to Heinrich Schütz and was released in March 2022. Their most recent record, “Strana armonia d’amore”, has been released in February 2025.
With the AVEC programme (Atelier Voix Et Composition) Les Cris de Paris are continuing their outreach and educational activities designed for tomorrow’s creative artists and performers. The programme is a residence, an academy and a form of mentorship. For a full season it will provide support to young composers in partnership with a partner body.
In all their activities, Les Cris de Paris are funded by the French Ministry of Culture – Île-de-France Cultural Affairs department, as well as the Île de France region and the City of Paris. They are Associate Artists at the Singer-Polignac Foundation.
