Cassidy van Herent grew up on a farm in the middle of nowhere. With local punks as parents, they got to know the unconventional and artistic life very early on. Cassidy dropped out of school in 2020 and got into theatre almost coincidentally, where they worked in make-up, costume & set design. They also worked on a short film dealing with drag as self-alienation and self-rediscovery during this time. This was followed by working as a set and costume assistant at Staatstheater Braunschweig. There, Cassidy was involved in numerous productions, including as a costume and set designer in “Who Wants to Live Forever” (Director: Josef Bäcker, Lukas Pergande), as well as in “Space Mamis” (Director: Carolina Cesconetto), which took place in Berlin.
During this time, van Herent also wrote a play called “DAS MODERLIESCHEN UND DAS HUNDSELEND”. Cassidy van Herent’s artistic approaches primarily revolve around false humility, (out)breaking and queerness.
