Cintia Rangel was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1982. She studied History of Art at the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro and Dance at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Her movement research focusses on taking the risk to be contaminated by the “SpaceTempoBody” of everyday life and how to turn movement into an act of aesthetics and politics. She moved to Munich in 2015, where she worked on several projects including “Movimento III, Espumas pós tsuname” by Mario Lopes, “MIMIMI Space” by Ricardo de Paula and “Break & Connection” by Grupo Oito. In 2022, she presented “Labyrinth” at HAU2 Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin, her first piece as an official member of the collective Grupo Oito which she still belongs to today. The collective is active within Berlin’s independent scene and explores the relationship between the individual and contemporary society, with a special interest on how this relationship is raceified and gendered.
