Jeremy Bines

Jeremy Bines joined the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Choral Director at the beginning of the 2017/18 season. Born in Belfast, the conductor of British, Irish and German origin studied at Cambridge University and the National Opera Studio in London. After working for several years as a freelance répétiteur for companies such as Royal Opera Covent Garden and English National Opera, Jeremy Bines took up the post of chorus master at the Royal Danish Opera in 2007 and at the famous Glyndebourne Festival in 2009. He remains the longest serving Chorus Master at Glyndebourne and during his time there was responsible for the chorus’ successes in productions such as “Billy Budd”, “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg”, “Saul” and “Béatrice et Bénédict”, all of which received critical acclaim. An experienced conductor, he also led performances of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “La Bohème” with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Glyndebourne Festival.

Highlights of Bines’ work at Deutsche Oper Berlin include his highly acclaimed work with the chorus in productions of “Le Prophète”, “The Miracle of Heliane”, “Oceane”, “La Sonnambula” and most recently Britten’s “” at the Philharmonie Berlin.
