Volker Lösch has realised over 100 theatre and opera productions to date, 11 of them at Staatsschauspiel Dresden. In his artistic work he often brings representatives of different social groups together with professional actors. Most recently he staged Beethoven's “Fidelio” at the Bonn Opera, linked with current stories of political prisoners in Turkey and their relatives, “Volksfeind for Future” at Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, adding edited interviews with climate activists, “Der Tartuffe oder Kapital und Ideologie” at Staatsschauspiel Dresden as a study of neoliberalism framed by a discourse on inequality, “Stadt der Arbeit” at Musiktheater Gelsenkirchen, contextualised with unemployed people on the prevailing concept of work, “Angst” at Schauspiel Bonn, about the structures and consequences of conspiracy theories and witch trials and finally “Aufruhr” at the Schauspiel Essen with activists from the Ruhr area. His production “Der Tartuffe oder Kapital und Ideologie” has been invited to the 2022 Theatertreffen.
