Pandit Pran Nath

Pandit Pran Nath (1918–1996) is a representative of the Kirana school of northern Indian music, which he learned from one of its most important protagonists, the musician Abdul Wahid Khan, during a traditional training programme lasting 20 years. Pandit Pran Nath primarily mastered the slow, measured musical works typical of the Kirana style. He moved to New York in 1972, founding a school for the music of the Kirana school. Pandit Pran Nath influenced a series of Western musicians following different styles. His music is preserved in numerous audio documents.
