Audiovisual language has been the technique that has guided my most generic professional activity, but I have been interested in taking video beyond the single-channel format, seeking to highlight the materiality of video through experiential strategies of visual creation. I link memory and archive as a creative vehicle which also distinguishes the aesthetic and approach to the visual style that I have currently developed in Video Art and Audio-Visual Realisation projects.
In 2016, I began to develop my own scenic language using technically old family playback equipment and VHS tapes; materially, family albums, among other memory resources. My research in scenic design moved towards architectural space as a stage, alluding to exercises in modeling the spaces that traversed my memory in childhood. For me, the exercise of memory has traversed the way I look at archival material: the link between memories and the archive is my creative vehicle. My hybrid path, between scenographic languages, analogous aesthetic inclinations of the 90’s and video in the Performing Arts, led me to approach the theatre in an initially VJ format. Currently, I’m developing Expanded Video to an analogue spatial reflection, giving importance to the support and the materiality of the projected image, achieving a mixture between my aesthetics as a visual artist and my questions about the immersive and enveloping materiality.
