ensemble unitedberlin

ensemble unitedberlin was founded in 1989, the year the Berlin Wall fell. Since then, it has performed at festivals from China to Israel, Brazil to South Korea and Albania to the USA. The repertoire moves between Modernity and the newest new music and most recently they have begun integrating Asian instruments into their work. Several of their concert programmes have resulted in close collaboration with such composers as Vinko Globokar, Wolfgang Rihm, Mauricio Kagel, Christian Wolff, Toshio Hosokawa, Helmut Lachenmann and György Kurtág. Workshops are often organised to complement the projects. This interdisciplinary work is characteristic: the “Musik im Dialog: Farbe, Form, Figur” series has devoted itself to the relationships between the visual arts and music. The ensemble’s work is documented on multiple CDs.
