Anglo-Moroccan composer Brahim Kerkour lives in London. He studied composition and music technology with Noel Zahler at Connecticut College and completed his PhD in 2010 at New York’s Columbia University with Fabien Lévy und Tristan Murail. Kerkour sees his works as ecosystems of sounds each with their own principles. Influenced by his experiences with electronic music, he is interested in the virtually tactile quality of sound in space. In this respect, Kerkour see himself as more of a sculptor or choreographer of sounds. He first records his sound ideas with his own voice, works on them and then creates a score. Kerkour has participated in the Darmstadt Summer Courses. His works have been performed in Europe as well as New York and Rabat.
