This award, which comes with a prize sum of 5,000 Euros, honours the outstanding performance by a young actor in one of the ten most remarkable productions invited to Theatertreffen. This year’s juror is the Swiss theatre and film actor Bettina Stucky. The award ceremony will take place on the conclusion of the 62nd Theatertreffen on Sunday, 18 May 2025 at Haus der Berliner Festspiele.
The Alfred-Kerr-Acting-Award was initiated in 1991 by Judith and Michael Kerr, children of the Berlin theatre critic Alfred Kerr, together with Pressestiftung Tagesspiegel and Berliner Festspiele/Theatertreffen. Since then, it has distinguished an outstanding performance by a young actor in one of the 10 most remarkable productions invited to Theatertreffen. Every year, a different renowned theatre personality serves as juror. The award comes with a prize sum of 5,000 Euros and is bestowed by the Alfred-Kerr-Foundation with support from Berliner Festspiele. Further support is provided by the publishing house Der Tagesspiegel, the Hartung family and Gustav Kiepenheuer Bühnenvertriebs-GmbH.
